A Melton-based store owner is currently under fire for posting a racist sign that bans black teenagers (and dogs) from his store.

“Statement. Because the 14-18 year old blacks always steal. Prohibit 14-18 year-old blacks and dogs into the shop,” the sign at the milk bar read.

However, locals aren't feeling it. “I don’t think anyone in the Melton community would fancy this,” said Cam, the man that originally took the picture of the sign, speaking to 3AW radio.

After both local and national outrage started pouring in, the unidentified store owner took the sign down. Oddly enough, he still stands by his decision, claiming the sign was just a breaking point after over 20 years of being the victim of crime. He also shared security footage of eight black teenagers coming in his shop to tease him and steal from his store.

Security footage aside, the local police force believes the message is inappropriate.

“Victoria Police does not support the language of the poster and deems the message as inappropriate,” a spokesman told news.com.au.

The store is still in business...for now.
