Nearly two decades later and the truth finally comes out! Back in 1994, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC notoriously set her boyfriend's (NFL wide receiver Andre Rison) mansion on fire. The rumors were that Sandra "Pepa" Denton of Salt-N-Pepa was the other woman and Left Eye found out, but Pepa set the record straight in her book "Let's Talk About Pep."
According to the book, Pepa and Rison were friends, but they were not romantically involved. "Andre and I never messed around," Pepa wrote. "I’m innocent of that crime. I am so innocent. But I did know him and we were really cool. Salt-N-Pepa used to do a lot of NFL spots for Monday Night Football. And we would do some NFL parties. I met Andre at one of those parties and we hit it off. We went bowling and were bugging out and laughing. I would bump into him from time to time at different clubs. And that was it."
If that's true, then why was she called a home wrecker in the tabloids at the time? She says that Rison later explained that he was telling Left Eye how "cool" she was, and Left Eye must have gotten the wrong idea. When a Salt-N-Pepa video came on television one night, he gave Pepa props and it was over.
Left Eye and Andre Rison went to a Salt-N-Pepa show in Atlanta that night, and afterwards Pepa got them backstage. Rison disappeared, Pepa left her dressing room, and Left Eye went looking for him. "Lisa came into my dressing room looking for him, and when she didn’t see me and couldn’t find him, she jumped to conclusions." When she did find him, they went home and argued until he got fed up and left. "That’s when the teddy bears and the sneakers went in the Jacuzzi with the lighter fluid and the whole house got burned to the ground."
Unfortunately Left Eye isn't here to tell her side of the story and none of us were there, so it's up to you to decide which version to believe.
