Why are we not surprised?
An NYPD cop is facing insane charges after being arrested for having a sexual relationship with an underage girl and recording their encounters.
According to the New York Daily News, the officer, now identified as Raul Olmeda, was arraigned on a 67-count (yes, you read that right) indictment and is being held on $250,000 bond. The sick part is Olmeda continued to have sex with the girl even after an investigation was launched.
The report claims Olmeda paid the girl for sexual favors around five times between January and April. Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark says the 40-year-old former police officer “preyed on the vulnerable young woman and videotaped his demeaning and dehumanizing act.”
The NYPD is shocked and saddened by the news. New York City Police Commissioner James O’Neill was absolutely disgusted by Olmeda's crimes, calling it “unconscionable.”
“The nature and scope of the charges in this indictment are egregious,” O’Neill said. “The fact that the defendant is an NYPD officer evidences an unconscionable violation of his oath to uphold the law and protect the public.”
Police still aren't sure how Olmeda met the victim, who is allegedly younger than 16, but regardless, he still thinks he's innocent.
“It’s a very heavy indictment, which is evidence of nothing,” his attorney said. “This isn’t numerous underage women. This is one underage woman, and we don’t know her credibility at all.”
However, it seems like Olmeda doesn't have a case. Police found a recording of him urging her not to talk to the police, which proves he clearly knew what he was doing.
Another day, another corrupt person in power. What's new?
