With his last album Views about to turn a year old in April, Drake fans have been fiendin' for new music from the 6 God. And it looks like the wait is almost over.
Drake announced via Instagram that his new project "More Life" is only a week away, with the official release date set for March 18.
According to Complex, the "More Life" project was first announced back in October, but fans were left in suspense as to the details. Drake refers to it not as an album, but as a "playlist." The cover art for the project even features the words "A Playlist By October Firm" below a photograph of Drake's father.
In addition to the release date, Drake also posted a teaser trailer on his Instagram that shows brief glimpses into his life as one of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B.
Like Views, More Life will be an Apple Music/iTunes exclusive, and eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Drake's bio on iTunes lists The Weeknd as one of his collaborators for the new collection of music.
In an interview with DJ Semtex earlier this year, Drake revealed that (at least at the time) there were two songs on the playlist featuring an English rapper named Giggs. The full list of features, as well as the tracklist for the playlist have not been revealed, so fans may have to wait out the week to find out.
Why is Drizzy calling More Life a playlist and not an album? From the 6 God himself: "The style in which it’s being put together is based off of our concept that is OVO Sound Radio, you’ll kinda hear it when you hear the project...It's almost like a radio show, basically I asked myself man what would happen if I did OVO Sound radio but every song was a new Drake song?"
Only the people who have heard the playlist know what that really means. The rest of us will have to tune in on March 18.
