Both unapologetic and woke, political commentator Lisa Durden will sit and watch you turn blue in the face while you wait for an "I'm sorry" from her. The Essex County College professor recently appeared on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" and went toe-to-toe with the host about Black Lives Matter.

The two were discussing BLM in New York City hosting a Memorial Day party where only black people were invited. They asked people who don't identify as black to respect their space and not come to the party. Carlson was appalled that non-blacks couldn't attend and called Durden "demented" for defending the group's decision.

“Boo hoo hoo, you white people are angry because you couldn’t use your white privilege card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter’s all-black Memorial Day Celebration," she told Carlson during her appearance.

The controversial segment was obviously viewed by officials at Essex County College because just two days later when Durden returned to campus, she was told that her classes were canceled. Without immediate explanation, Durden was instructed to make her way over to Human Resources where she was given a letter that simply stated she was suspended from her teaching duties "until further notice." It was signed by Jeffrey Lee, the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Nowhere in the letter did anyone mention her heated discussion on Fox News. But when she met with the administration for a face-to-face sit down, they did tell her they made their decision because of her appearance on the show.

Lee was asked about Durden's "suspension" — which is all just a politically correct way of saying she was fired — and hinted that the professors comments could have been seen as divisive.

“The college promotes a community of unity that is inclusive of all," Lee said. "The general counsel has handled this matter in a way that complies with New Jersey state law. I am not at liberty to provide further details.”

The college's president, Anthony Munroe, mentioned that almost immediately calls began pouring in to the school from people complaining about Durden.

Carlson was more than enthusiastic to talk about Durden being fired from the college on his Fox News program. He thought it was "insane" that she was ever allowed to teach and thought the administration did the right thing by letting her go.

“They did this to humiliate me,” Durden said. “Essex County College publicly lynched me in front of my students.”

Durden caught up with Roland Martin for NewsOne following the news of her firing going viral and said she didn't appear on Fox News to play games.

“When a black woman’s on television who is direct, who is aggressive, we’re ‘angry.’ Well, when Jeanine Pirro’s on TV pointing and screaming and yelling, she’s ‘intelligent,'" she said. "And when Nancy Grace is coming on television, she’s ‘intelligent.’ … Why can’t I come on there and be aggressive and talk in the same vein as any expert in the fields of pop culture, politics and social issues?”

A Change.org petition was started in hopes of reinstating Durden and has received over 1,900 signatures.
